The midsummer mix - July, 2010

Media

I blinked and it was July. Maybe I was a little busy. I looked up at a neglected wall calendar and realized it was time for me to record something. However, delay wasn't the only reason for my anxiety to record.

This mix is dedicated to one of my best friends, someone I never imagined losing so early on. The tunes, the structure, and the title, are all influenced by not only our time together, but also the inspirational life she led. I hope that somewhere out there she can hear this, and she's dancing. Rest in peace, Suzy D. I miss you.

May 2010 DJ Mix Now Available

Media

JacksonDroopy presents: Jackson (05.2010).

After putting the wraps on an exhausting semester, I fumbled for my headphones and started recording some mixes. Thankfully, an expanding directory of over 70 new tracks and a homework-free schedule arrived in the nick of time. This is my first mix of the summer and I am dedicating it to my nephew, Jackson, hence the title and filename.

House and techno are the core genres employed, but the mix leans heavily toward the former in both track selection and mixing style. Listeners will also notice the electro and glitch elements, as well as my rare inclusion of vocal-heavy productions. Jackson features work from M83, Henrik Schwarz, Guillaume and the Coutu Dumonts, Nic Faniciulli, Dorian Paic, and Luciano.

Enjoy!

November 2009 DJ Mix posted

Media

I made a mix for November 2009. It's called "dia de los muertos" and I originally recorded it as a gift for DEKKO, who will hopefully be recording a mix for the site soon. The mix leans towards tech-house, particularly at the start, and after a Moderat surprise in the middle, plows ahead with both minimal and funky techno until the end.

Here's the link to the mix. Enjoy!

October 2009 Mix: Nothing Lasts.

Media

Here's the latest mix, just in time for Halloween. It features remixes of Moderat, Fever Ray, and Fuck Buttons, and hovers in the high 120 BPM range.

It's dedicated to Hank, who will be truly missed.

brokenphone - August 2009 mix

Media

So, last week, my phone broke. I was walking down a flight of stairs, when the phone slipped out of my sweaty palm (insert perverted joke here) and tumbled two flights only to smash upon a tiled lobby floor. The screen went black and for about 10 days I could not read any texts, or see any incoming call numbers. Luckily, I never parted with my Palm Treo 650, and the SIM swap was a success. Despite the woes of using a phone I meant to trash, things are okay. However, throughout the ordeal, I thought up this mix of house and techno tracks. This mix is a great deal more house-influenced, however, I retained the sexy techno vibe I've been working to perfect since Nov2008. Enjoy, leave some feedback via the homepage, and spread the mix around to your pals. I hope you like what I came up with. click to download brokenphone mix
